Andy's Message

From Andy Bevilacqua   August 8, 2025

Hi everyone. This is Andy Bevilacqua. I just wanted to let everyone know that I cannot make it to our 55th reunion, and I hate not being able to come. Most of you know I have Parkinsons Disease from Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam/Thailand, and in December of this year I will hit the 12-year mark. I am still working as CEO of my company but have to work from home since my ability to travel is limited. But God is Good and Jo and I are finally settled into our retirement home in Huntsville, Alabama. I don’t generally use social media because it is frowned upon since I work in the defense industry, so I know I have not put up new pictures or posts for a while. If you are seeing this message, it means Belinda has graciously agreed to post this for me--so thank you Sweetheart.

I really wanted to come to the 55th and thought by now I would have sold the company and gotten any health issues under control, but God had other plans for me (Or I am not listening good enough). My Parkinsons got bad enough that I had to schedule Deep Brain Stimulation surgery this year. It requires a battery of tests to be accepted, and I finally was put on the schedule for this November (still don’t know the day). Because it’s difficult to have other surgeries after the electronics are implanted in my chest, we (Jo) decided that I would get other minor old-person surgeries done this year to get them out of the way. I have had 3 already since January, and have 2 more before I get to the 2 or 3 brain surgeries in November.  After that, they take several months to adjust the stimulator for optimum efficiency. You are all my age, so I am sure many of you are facing similar issues so this is nothing unexpected. They say 70 is the new 50--I just didn’t realize how crappy the new 50 would be if I was blind, deaf and couldn’t walk. I told Jo that if she wanted a new healthy husband, she is still beautiful and sexy enough to easily find a newer model instead of fixing me up, but I guess she is comfortable with me. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that we will miss seeing everyone at the reunion and hope that if you have not signed up, try to reconsider and come see everyone. Life is short and getting shorter every day. We love you all and hope to see everyone in the near future at another get-together. If you travel and come through Huntsville, call me on my private line, (256) 603-1657; Jo and I would love to see you. I will have to get off social media completely soon, so save this number.  Have a great time at the reunion and be sure to thank Belinda and the other organizers for picking up this service when the former committee had to stop. I think a Caribbean cruise for a week with a band from the 70s would be great for our 60th. I know Ozzy and many others are gone, but there are still some old rockers out there--many of them will perform for just the cost of the cruise. Think about it.  Love and miss everyone.
