I planned to work in advertising, but enlisting in the Marine Corps as early as I did tended to channel me elsewhere, even though my tour in Vietnam ended any interest I ever had in weapons. I was an undercover vice officer for about four years, and served on a federal SWAT team for about six years. I acquired a Ph.D. in Political Science some years back and learned to speak Russian, and that led me to be an intelligence analyst for the US Department of Energy's Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence, where I've been for nearly 25 years. Actually, I'd have been happier in advertising.
I also teach Political Science at a small college in Knoxville.
